Master of Business Administration

The MBA program, located in Business School’s Yenni Hall,  offers a broad-based management education with an emphasis on course work in the functional areas of accounting, finance, economics, quantitative business analysis, marketing, and management.  This work takes place in the form of classroom study, team presentations, computer simulations, and direct applications to real business problems.

The program is designed to prepare the individual for responsibilities in the middle and upper-level management ranks by teaching and refining conceptual, analytical, and human relations skills.  Spring Hill provides state-of-the-art equipment and excellent resources for its MBA students.  Classes are offered on a semester basis with students generally taking one, or at most two, courses per semester.  Evening courses are offered in order to allow students to continue with their careers.  Classes usually meet one night per week.

The MBA program is accredited by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs.

FOUNDATION REQUIREMENTS

The Spring Hill faculty has determined that, in order for a student to succeed in the MBA courses, certain prerequisites are desirable.  These basic foundation requirements include undergraduate or graduate study in:

  • Statistics

  • Marketing

  • Accounting

  • Management

  • Calculus

  • Computer Information Systems

  • Finance

  • Economics

Core Requirements

MBA core courses are designed to ensure that the student receives a thorough exposure to all the functional areas of business decision making.  An appropriate mix of both quantitative and personal skills is reflected in this core:

  • Business Ethics
  • Organizational Behavior
  • Marketing Management
  • Business Strategy and Policy
  • Managerial Economics
  • Cost Accounting
  • Managerial Finance
  • Quantitative Business Analysis

In addition four electives must be completed:

  • Business Communication
  • E-Commerce
  • Production Management
  • Business and Humanities
  • Legal Environment of Business
  • International Business
  • Human Resource Administration

OBJECTIVES

To insure that all students in the MBA program acquire a common body of business knowledge the following objectives are operative:

  • An understanding of the internal operating environment of a business organization

  • A knowledge of the interaction of the business organization with the broader external environment in which it operates.

  • Development of negotiation skills, oral and written presentation skills, business-related research expertise, teamwork, leadership, competitive analysis, computer skills, financial analysis expertise, and quantitative analysis tools.

  • Receive an integrating experience requiring students to utilize knowledge from multiple functional areas of business, perform extensive and detailed case analysis, and work successfully in management teams.
