Faculty
Development at Spring Hill College
The mission of the
Faculty Development Program is to support the faculty in their efforts to
provide a premier Jesuit liberal arts education, by providing them with the
opportunities and means to participate in the scholarship
of discovery, integration, application, and teaching.
The Faculty Development Program at Spring Hill College
works in partnership with the Office
of Academic Computing, and the Thomas
Byrne Memorial Library to support faculty in their development
- as Teachers by designing, creating, and
delivering faculty development programs that integrate innovative,
effective, and appropriate teaching techniques and technologies into
the college’s instructional programs;
- as Scholars by supporting faculty efforts
to secure external funding, organizing on-campus opportunities to
present works-in-progress, and publicizing national and regional
opportunities for presentation and publication; and
- as Colleagues by providing information and
resources on subjects as various as trends in higher education,
consensus-building in academic departments and faculty committees,
opportunities for community service and service learning (in
conjunction with the Foley
Center for Community Service), etc.
The Office of Institutional Research
supports these efforts by making Faculty Activity Reports, the Faculty
Manual, the results of the National Survey of Student Engagement, and
similar materials available through its website.
