Portier Lecture
Portier Lecture:
The Portier Lecture is the annual history lecture. The lecture is named in honor of Michael Portier, the first bishop of Mobile, who founded Spring Hill College in 1830.
Archbishop Oscar Lipscomb delivered the first Portier Lecture in 1980. The Portier Lecture usually alternates between an American historian and a European historian. Although the lecture is intended primarily for students and faculty, it is open to the public.
